Social Network, anyone?

During a recent meeting on future artists programs, we discussed ideas on how to engage artists more intimately, and after running over a smorgasbord of ideas, we finally came down to the thought of potentially developing an independent social network for artists produced and run by TLG.

What do you think?

What we know now, is that the goal behind this social network would be to mirror the goal/aesthetic behind our ARTIST CONTRACT (see Artist Programs) - which, overall, would be to provide artists with a polished and inspiring environment to share ideas, receive valuable advice/critiques, avoid procrastination and network professionally. One focus in developing this social network would be to maintain the most efficient environment for creative work that we can. This social network would not only provide an outlet for TLG to feature resources for artists (grants, commissions, auditions, job openings), but also provide a more professional way for artists to sell their work and/or book their services. This social network would be open to any and all artists, however our efforts would go towards enrolling as many Alabama artists as possible.

There would, of course, need to be a few authentic, non-traditional features of this social network that would set it apart. These would include features, such as: creative steps for enrollment, required blog/video work status updates, community critiques on other artists' work, and more. Nothing too outlandish, but aspects that would provide the artists in our social network with a since of worth and accomplishment in being enrolled. We're also looking at ways of implementing this social network as an entry-level resource for Senior or graduating college students.

This artist social network is certainly in its concept stage. However, we figured who best to get suggestions/input from on this idea than our audience. We suggest reading the ARTIST CONTRACT for a better on idea on the "productivity" aspect of the social network.

So, again...what do you think? Leave a comment below!
