A LAYMAN'S GUIDE...
Here's an open opportunity for our fans, followers, and patrons to get involved creatively with TLG while at the same time providing potential long term support to our organization.
We are in the planning phases of developing a widely focused publication called, "A Layman's Guide to Becoming an Arts Lover." This publication will focus on providing members of any community (any "layman") with valuable, creative advice on how to become thoroughly and beneficially engaged in the Arts both local to their communities as well as on a national scale. This "Layman's Guide" will also consist of powerful stories of personal artistic experiences from talented professional artists, long-standing patrons, and Arts administrators.
The goal is to develop a very personal, informal, and engaging collection of stories, suggestions, tools and tips that would not only prove rewarding and enjoyable to individuals unaccustomed to the Arts, but also to those who are already dedicated Arts followers.
LOOKING FOR WRITERS :
If you are interested in contributing a story of a past artistic experience, valuable tools and tips, or creative suggestions to this publication, or have any questions regarding the project, please contact us at projects@thelaymangroup.org. Contributing writers will be given collaborative authoring credit in the publication, and will also receive a package of Layman Group patron rewards to enjoy during any of our seasons. We look forward to you particpating in this project!
AUDIENCE REVIEWS
So, we were thinking recently about whether or not we are truly giving our audience a fair chance to share their thoughts and opinions about what we do here at The Layman Group. For instance, if you come to a TLG production, how do we know whether or not you actually enjoyed it? How are we gathering feedback? And shouldn't our other audience members have a right to hear your opinion too?
With that in mind, we've decided to implement AUDIENCE REVIEWS. This will allow YOU to share your critiques on our productions, events, exhibits and our organization as a whole. The truth is, some organizations might stray away from this idea in fear of getting negative feedback. However, we feel that's just the nature (and the beauty) of the Art producing business. Some will love it, some will hate it, some will be indifferent. But if we didn't ask for your opinion/review, it would mean we didn't trust or value what you have to say, and that's just not true - we do!

So, tell us what's on your mind :: Last night, wondering "What are we going to do tonight?", my husband Phillip and I decided to check out TLG's production, the Vanynberg Vignettes. We weren't sure what to expect, but we thoroughly enjoyed the experience, start to finish. From the moment we saw the old Frederick House off in the distance we realized we were in for a treat. Since the production is ongoing, I don't want to reveal too much, but we were happy to be reeled into this deliciously dark story. I think what I loved most about it was the intimacy of the venue. This is beyond the thrill of being in the front row!
