PHOTOPLAY : CREATIVE IMAGERY CHALLENGE



ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

Lights...Camera...ABSTRACT! PHOTOPLAY is our first project dedicated to the craft of photography and we're excited about the beautiful work surely to come by way of this creative challenge. The goal behind this project is just that; to provide a challenge to photographers (novice & professional), while continuing to [expose] the infinite ability of photography to inspire, tell stories, and express our most poignant emotions. Beginning on October 1st, 2011, 23 photographers embarked on the first of a three round challenge. During each round, we post/announce CUES for all photographers participating in the challenge. CUES are the inspiration pieces from which they base each of their images. These CUES are not simplistic. CUES consist of anything from Shakespeare passages, lines of Bukowski poetry, Beatles lyrics, video clips and more. The photographers take inspiration from each CUE and utilize imagery and originality to capture an image (any image) based on that inspiration. The Photoplay judges make decisions on submissions gathered during each round.

FROM A CHALLENGER



Tonight I was fortunate enough to hear a Christmas.concert put on by the Prattville City Pops, the Wetumpka Pops, and Prattville community choir. As my friend John Paul closed up the evening, he gave a small speech about the effort the orchestra band members put into their performance. Only a few are actually professionals, you see, the rest are made up of people who used to play in school and wanted to create that magic again. They, and John Paul, perform for the pure joy it brings to their audience. My friend said they preform to make is smile. His heartfelt words and beautiful performance remind me why I snap pictures, or design jewelry. Love. Pure and Simple. Creativity is a gift to be shared, experienced. Also, to make people smile. Thank you for the opportunity to share my creative visions through PHOTOPLAY.
